Women’sNet works to advance gender equality and gender justice in South Africa through the use of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) by providing content and training that supports individual women, girls, women’s organizations and gender-related networks to take control of their own content.
Recognizing that ICT’s are a gendered tool, Women’sNet seeks to address gender imbalances in access and meaningful use of ICTs through research and advocacy for gender aware ICT policy and programs at all levels of society. Women’sNet builds women’s organizational capacity to use technology strategically to find the people, tools, resources and content they need for social action.
The Women’sNet model rests on three pillars, information generation linked to networking and capacity building. Women’sNet is based in South Africa and operates on a national, regional and global level through partnerships.
Women’sNet supports the goals of Ashoka’s Changemakers and recognises the urgent need for involving young men at risk in contributing towards the holistic transformation of our society.
