Nimesh Ghimire, 17's Profile

About Nimesh Ghimire, 17

This is how Nimesh is a Changemaker:
In Nepal, a share of budget in education is being spent to fund the 35-year old curriculum of the secondary level, a system where ‘being educated’ simply means ‘memorizing the course. The entire system, instead of being student-friendly, focuses on forcing as much as data and facts as possible into the students without caring much for the level of understanding and skill development. MIE project, as of now, is supported by Save the Children USA, The Asia Foundation and Govt. of Nepal. We are currently implementing the project in only one of the schools in the country. However, we are really looking forward to expanding our scope of work. I firmly believe in the fact that people of any country much be imparted quality education in order to ensure that the country prospers in the long run. Realizing the fact that Nepal's educational system needs urgent attention and change, I, along with a few of my friends, have initiated an educational research project called Minimally Invasive Education (MIE). Through MIE, We try to provide the students with a constructive study environment so that the learning process for them proves to be enjoyable and more effective... Besides the MIE project, I have been involved in many other activities (which can be read in my bio) that aims at achieving positive change in the society.

The place for which Nimesh feels a fondness or connection:
I joined Budhanilkantha School, a fully residential national school of Nepal in the year 2000 as one of the students in Grade four. The school is situated in Budhanilkantha Community, at the outskirts of the capital city of the country. Apart from the fact that there is this extensive national school of Nepal; the place still remains as one of the most backward place of the country. Having spent nearly a decade at this community, Budhanilkantha community has a very special place in my heart. It is a place where I have spent the most crucial stages of my life and have learnt to behave like a 'grown up' person.

The change Nimesh passionately wants to happen:
As already mentioned, I would really like to see the educational system of my country developed. I would want it to be more efficient and I would like my country to achieve positive educational paradigm shift.
