About Diane Tucker

This is how Diane is a Changemaker:
Diane Tucker is the Online Reviewer/Moderator for the "Why Games Matter" Competition at Changemakers. As the Online Reviewer / Moderator, she will both help the entire Changemakers community to engage in discussions around digital games for health and health care, and aid entrants in fine tuning and improving their entries. In addition to her work with Changemakers, Diane works as a consultant developing projects and concepts for the "games for change" or "serious games" industry -- that which develops computer and videogames that educate, motivate, or prompt behaviorial change in players while entertaining them. Before moving into this sector, Diane developed documentaries and a feature film for the BBC and Channel 4 (UK); she later moved into news, where she ultimately ran the New York News Bureau for the BBC. Both on her own time, in the 1990s, and in pursuing a graduate degree in Middle Eastern Studies after September 11th, she conducted an extended study of embedded media -- the precise ways 20/21st century conservative evangelicals and 15/16th century Ottoman rulers embedded their world view and political ideas into a range of media -- from law codes to architecture to diet books and financial investment guides -- to affect people's political beliefs, judgments and actions. She is a graduate of Swarthmore College and has Masters degree from Harvard (GSAS/FAS). Diane invites all of you to engage her with questions and insights in the competition discussion post. She looks forward to those exchanges!
