Hi Rebecca,
Great initiative. I thought I connect you to another changemaker participant who is doing somilar work in the University of Georgiahttp://www.changemakers.net/en-us/node/3533
Good luck,
Hello Rebecca,
I would like to know how many people you have served directly? And, how is your program impacting the larger community and society at large? Also, you mention that this program could be implemented nation wide. How would you approach this expansion? Thank you.

Dear Dana,
This project is in the idea phase, as it has not been implemented yet. However, the proposed benefit of those directly served ranges from 20-60 in the first year, and potentially double that each year afterwards, depending upon how much funding is received. The pilot, or first year of the program would have 20 participants on the soccer team, including 10 refugee girls, and 10 local American-born girls. Through additional after school and cultural curriculum classes, the girls would be expected to share their knowledge with immediate family members, which could therefore increase the directly served people to 50-60, assuming there is an average of 2-3 people per family. We would then hope that these families and girls would also share this knowledge with friends and acquaintances, and the community in general would be more knowledgeable about other cultures and the numbers of those indirectly affected would increase.
For expansion of the program, we would take the lessons learned from the pilot program, in terms of numbers of volunteers needed, local organization participation, transportation logistics, and other items, and try to build the soccer program in other cities with high numbers of refugee populations.
