Denis Byamukama's Profile

About Denis Byamukama

This is how Denis is a Changemaker:
Helping young professionals develop their careers in water and environmental resources management Trying to create health communities through provision of safe water

The place for which Denis feels a fondness or connection:
When i am out in the field doing inspection and monitoring of different water sources. Whether, it is for research and academic purposes or routine monitoring of small towns where my company manages small water schemes, my heart always goes out to those communinties. From Kathmandu in Nepal to Bahir Dar in Ethiopia through East Africa and down to Ndola in Zambia, the water and sanitation problems are always the same, it is only the settings that seem to change. You see communities that are exposed to unsafe water and unhygienic sanitation, yet most of the time nobody is bothered.

The change Denis passionately wants to happen:
As a University lecturer, i would want to work towards increasing the number of professionals in the field of water and sanitation who can meet the challenges we are facing. As a person involved in the business of water supply and management, i will use my position to work with the global community on innovations that will ensure that more people access safe and affordable water, water at the tap should not be for an exclusive club of the urban elite.
