Ken Auma's Profile

About Ken Auma

This is how Ken is a Changemaker:
Auma joined the Ashoka Changemakers team in January 2008. In 2002 Auma graduated from Kenya Medical training College having focused on Health Information, International Development and Social Justice. Auma's desire to create social change developed after volunteering and living with families in Kenya with a group called Youth Action Forum for Networking(YAFNet), which he founded. It was evident to him that he needed to do something about the poverty and inequality in the Kenya. While doing extensive research on the issue of Youth and Entreprenual development in Kenya, Auma founded and directed "YAFNet" a youth-led not-for-profit making organization. Auma expanded the Network to Nyanza Province, Ghana, Democratic republic of CONGO, DRC in 2007 while working for the YAFNet. Auma is currently working on an online blog via http://www.yafnetkenya.org to help reach other youths around the globe, the process by which to establish similar networks in their communities.

The place for which Ken feels a fondness or connection:
At the Uhuru Park Freedom corner in Nairobi. This is the site where Kenya's freedom fighters gather in solidarity to curb against abuse of social justice.

The change Ken passionately wants to happen:
Enable young men and women have a say in the decisions made about and implemented by organizations without youth involvement.
