Lois A. Herman is Coordinator of the Women's United Nations Report Network - WUNRN - http://www.wunrn.com. WUNRN is considered the most active Gender ListServe in the world, and is involved in 3/4 of the UN Member States. WUNRN intersects the UN system daily and at high levels. Lois Herman is a Gender Specialist and addresses issues of women's and girls' human rights, empowerment, and oppression. Examples of themes addressed by the Women's UN Report Network include: Right to Education, Women's & Girls' Health, Widows, Crimes of Honor, Female Infanticide and Preference for Boys, Citizenship-Property-Inheritance Rights, Prostitution and Slavery, Rape and Sexual Abuse, Marital and Family Issues, Women's Economic Empowerment, and Women's Leadership. Lois and WUNRN are part of the UN NGO Committees on the Status of Women in Geneva, New York, and Vienna. She has presented globally, and including at the United Nations, on thematic issues of women and girls. Lois and the WUNRN program work multisector - non-governmental organizations, governments, academia, religions and associations, foundations, and civil society. WUNRN is also considered one of the strongest Gender Media programs in the world. WUNRN regularly attends the UN Commission on the Status of Women, and was an organizer for five Panels at CSW in 2007. WUNRN also participates in the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. WUNRN is committed to postive social change and linking to UN instruments, mechanisms, and structures. WUNRN presents gender focused references, research, and resource materials to the global WUNRN audience. The perspective is both grass roots and high level. Lois A. Herman has been involved in women's and girls' human rights throughout her life, and has a history in corporate management. She has raised five children, including an adopted foreign orphan.
