About Lisa Fancott

This is how Lisa is a Changemaker:
Lisa Fancott has worked as a Director and Senior Consultant in Economic and Social Development in Asia and Latin America for over 8 years. Ms. Fancott has enjoyed assignments with the United Nations Development Fund for Women, Oxfam, APEC and the International Trade Centre of the World Trade Organization. Her work in Asia includes three years in Vietnam where she was director of a project to promote women’s economic empowerment in three provinces. There she helped establish nascent business associations, such as a tourism business network in Ha Long Bay and helped seed the national Women Entrepreneur’s Council of Vietnam. Throughout her work Lisa has actively promoted Corporate Social Responsibility and “Fair Trade”, which encourage firms to adopt a triple bottom line, which includes profit, environmental sustainability and social justice. Lisa has presented policy papers to international fora such as the APEC Committee on Trade and Investment. Ms. Fancott enjoys volunteers time as a mentor to Canadian youth interested in social change and has been an advisor to three programmes at Capilano College in Vancouver, Canada. One of these is the award-winning post-graduate Asia Pacific Management Programme (APMCP) of which she is a graduate and active member of the alumni association. Ms. Fancott earned her undergraduate degree at McGill University and speaks eight languages. Lisa’s interest in the roots of violence and violence prevention arise out of her commitment to the study of Asian philosophy. She is an active supporter of the study and practice of Dharma (“Buddhism”) in the West and has a keen interest in the adaptation of Asian teachings on non-violence to Western education systems. Lisa is currently studying Chinese and Pali and preparing to publish stories for Western children on non-violent male "heroes" in Asian history.
