In September 2004 gave up my career as a Civil Engineer to start Alive & Kicking in Kenya and make balls in Africa that would allow children from poorer communities to play more sport and at the same create awareness of prevenable illnesses. Prior to this, I had been making Civil Engineering Projects happen in Africa 25 years. Of some relevance to the fund raising and governance aspects of my charitable work is my setting up the August 7th Memorial Trust in Nairobi, which has successfully created a Memorial Park on the site where 218 people lost their lives as a result of the 1998 terrorist attack on the US Embassy.
