On May 28, 2008, the judges reviewed the entries for the Changemakers “Geotourism Challenge” and would like to pass on this feedback for your entry. Thank you for applying and for your hard work in the field. We are excited to archive your entry to serve as a leading solution for the worldwide community of sustainable tourism innovators. We wish you continued luck with your sustainable, innovative, and socially impactful initiatives.
All the best, The Changemakers Team
“I was very impressed with reach of this initiative, particularly to the 23 tribes of the Copper River Watershed. Projects often involve indigenous peoples, but the geographic and cultural reach of this initiative is so much more significant. They’ve done this project in a very clever way, and it has been around since 1997.”
“Although the model is replicable, the organization bases much of its financial backing on donations. They should look for other sustainability models, as the work needs to continue.”
“We were concerned about the small number of people taking trips each year, 50-75 people per year. If the impact is intended to be influential in the policy realm, more people need to know about and sign on to this initiative.”
