Village Ways has come up with an excellent concept for promoting tourism along with upliftment of rural areas. It has put a small place, almost non-existant, on a larger map.
Dear Ksutwala,
Thank you for your comment.
Putting a small place on a larger map has only been possible because the villagers are large hearted people who have won the hearts of every guest who has visited the Villageways Pilot Project in the five remote villages of Binsar.
Regards,
Villageways
Village ways is working with the communities with the partnership of village committees who work collectively. In that manner the whole village is part of the business, that also is helping to stop migration from these five villages.
Dear Kailash,
It was our endeavour to try and create a renewed economic growth in an area that was remote and had very little employment opportunities for the inhabitants.
The community based partnership that you have mentioned has made a success out of our Villageways project.Mututal understanding of the needs of the area and knowing our guests' requirements, we have been able to create a wonderful responsible tourism product.
Best Wishes,
Villageways
self-reliance and self-sustenance are not empty jargon as has been adequately proved by this project initiative...to enable the villager to utilise his/her available resource, encourage the dweller to not only develop and consequently thrive in the environment; developing an economic model based on capitalising and enhancing present potential as well exposing/inter-acting with the outside world facilitates not only relying on one's own abilities, sustaining and growing within, but also contributing greatly to a remote community,s self-esteem...
this project is not only novel, but also noble and practicing ably on the dictum "instead of providing food/fish for the under-priveleged, its always better to teach ways and means to grow crops and to provide the wherewithal to fish in the river"...
one applauds the Villageways initiative and hopes such like work is emulated by all...
I think you need to complain to the service provider of those running this competition... it is almost impossible to connect to your site. A lot of people to whom I have recommended this site just can not get through.
This is indeed an excellent project as it firstly deals with a complex countrylike india where its not easy to start initiatives without significant resources. The second very compelling factor is the integrated approach for the local community by involving them rather than bringing extern resorces. This to my mind is a sustainable model that can be replicated in a lot of african countries that are being plundered at present.
