Dear Mike and Mehnaz,
I thank you wholeheartedly for your words of support. Next year I will have graduated from high school but this experience will stay with me forever. You will be glad to know that I have decided to apply for a profession in environmental protection in Tsinghua University.

Hi this project is wonderful but i only wanted to see its design or miniature model of it.Keep it up.

by Monica_NanyangM... on September 29, 2008 - 10:41

Dear Mehnaz,
Thank you! I included descriptions of the system in whole, and details concerning seperate devices, as well as assorted photos, which I believe can be found at the bottom of this page. I will be more than glad to upload more if you are interested. Thanks again,
Monica

Monica,

I believe this plan you have presented could very well have an incredible impact on not only China, but humanity in general. The plan is well-rounded and your determination and drive easily shine through if one takes the time to read the entire thing. If implemented, I have no doubts your plan will achieve unprecedented results. This is really amazing work for a high-schooler.

Awesome job!
Bo

Oh and Brian, the waterfall is entirely our original invention. The company does work on solar energy, which is why we wrote letters asking them to sponsor our project.

by Monica_NanyangM... on March 27, 2008 - 06:59

2) An alfresco thermal tank for aquatic plants, which protects plants while they are not yet fully grown.
3) A range of aquatic life to help create a stable food chain and balance the ecosystem (The experiments for which are where our bathtubs came in.)
4) A range of plant life on the banks to improve air quality and create an attractive landscape.
We are currently working on other projects to progress this system. Among them are using high polymer textile fiber membrane in a device to cleanse the most severely polluted parts of rivers, such as sewage entrance; and more advancements in a chemical direction for an additional device in the waterfall.
I attached a paper on our work over the past years, if you’d like more details.

Thanks again!

Dear Brian and Kathy,
Thanks so much for your encouragement^ ^
The SunTech Company is known as Wuxi Shangde Taiyangneng Company in China. They sponsored our solar battery. Puluo Company sponsored our microorganism supplies.
The system is roughly divided into two parts: the Solar Waterfall System and the Bio-diversity System.
The solar waterfall system includes:
1) The solar battery rack, designed according to the sunshine irradiation angles in each city.
2) The waterfall device itself, which has undergone five generations. The fourth generation consisted of an electric circuit diagram and an original intermediary device between the water pump and the waterfall. Now the fifth generation is a device that runs on siphoning energy. We are currently working on the water exit of the waterfall, to find a balance between allowing water to fall straight down, gathering gravitational energy so as to have a bigger impact; and making it undergo more contact with the air in between, so as to bring more oxygen to the river.
The bio-diversity system includes:
1) A series of Floating Homes invented on basis of traditional floating beds. We have experimented a new formula of plants to absorb unwanted fungi, decline eutrophication, release oxygen, and create a stable food chain. More importantly, we have taken advantage of the newest research made by the Chinese Science Academy of Geography and Lake Institute: Sunlight degrades pollutants once it has reacted with microbes in the water. Therefore we construct our Floating Homes with bamboo instead of the traditional plastic foam material, which not only blocks sunlight from the water surface, but also creates irreversible pollution once the foam falls apart. The Floating Homes cause zero pollution, are reliable and durable, can be adjusted according to plant, and reduce the areas blind to sunlight of common floating beds by over 75%. Hi Monica,

Great work!!!

You didn't mention the prize your school earned from the World Water Week organization ...everyone look here: http://www.worldwaterweek.org/press/060822.asp

Do you have any water analysis data for the ponds and rivers which you have treated? Wonder about the before and after water analysis?

I have tried to find SunTech Company and the water fall on their website but couldn't find any information about it. Also looked to find information about PuLuo Protech Company but couidn't find anything about them. I am very interested to learn more about the specifics of your work and about these two companies and their products.

Thank you for your reply and information.

Really tremendous work.

Brian
