On May 28, 2008, the judges reviewed the entries for the Changemakers “Geotourism Challenge” and would like to pass on this feedback for your entry. Thank you for applying and for your hard work in the field. We are excited to archive
your entry to serve as a leading solution for the worldwide
community of sustainable tourism innovators. We wish you continued luck with your sustainable, innovative, and socially impactful initiatives.

All the best, The Changemakers Team

“This initiative speaks to localization. This organization maintains an innovative edge in the promotion of user-generated content. The act of empowering local people with the opportunity to map elements of their world from a sustainable point of view is a really exciting concept. The organization has the potential to be bought by a larger company to help scale the initiative. This seems to be a potential path by which to ensure financial sustainability.”

“I would be interested in learning more about the technology inherent in maintaining this initiative. What kinds of online programming do they use? How do they compile the global directory?”

I'm honored and thrilled to be a member of Green Map Systems as we introduce our new, interactive mapmaking forum.

On behalf of the GMS team, I'm happy to announce that, based on input from our global network, we've finalized our project name to OpenGreenMap!

I hope that you, too, can take this chance to explore our existing sites and stay tuned to the latest OpenGreenMap developments!

Best,
NJT

Wendy and Green mappers around the world,

I have always been an enthusiastic supporter of Green Maps. Now, having read about and played with My Green Maps and seen the new iconography I am all the more impressed.

This community-based approach to mapping through a Google mashup fills a gap in our toolkit for the proposal we have here to establish projects that make it easier for travelers with disabilities to find reliable travel information.

Thank you for developing this tool and setting it out for the world to use. We intend to make use of it for our community!
