Hi Drew,
I came across your organization after reading a very good comment you left for a colleague Changemaker entry from Africa. And now, after reading your entry and seeing your video I am happy to contact with you. I think we share common values and visions and we might be able to support each other in the growth of our organizations. Two things you present are very interesting to me. First, that you mention that integrating girls and empowering them through football is still a barrier for you. And, secondly, that you want to take your model global. I run Women Win, a new foundation that focuses solely on supporting projects that empower women and girls through sport. We work out of Amsterdam and have supported projects in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Please visit our entry at http://www.changemakers.net/en-us/node/3456 We are looking for great models of success and also for ways to integrate a gender component into sport for social change projects. Maybe we can discuss further ways to support each other?
All the best and keep on the good work.

Sport for a Better World Competition

I had to take time to comment on your project for sure, Drew. It's great to see the success you have had since we first spoke nearly a year ago after meeting at CU Boulder. (we still need to knock a ball around sometime!) I'm not only impressed with your commitment to your dream but, I'm quite impressed with the methodology and planning that has evolved with your idea as well. Fantastic! I truly think that love.futbol should have a discussion with the Architecture for Humanity team (www.architecturefor humanity.org) to discuss your idea and try to identify potential support from the global "building community" that Cameron has formed. I believe his organization can assist you in discovering ways to better identify how to construct your signature pitches based on the geographical challenges/demands & cultural nuances you may face along with potentially finding ways to decrease the cost of building your signature concrete pitch.

Keep going Drew and let's plan on connecting face-to-face this year for sure. Your pilot work is the just the start of your BIG catalyst efforts - continued success!

Hi Drew,
Congratulations on what you're created. I wish you the best of luck in the expansion of love.futbol. Great video. I hope you take some time to look at some of the other soccer entries in this competition. I think you may find some places that might need your help in the future!
Keep it up.
Cheers

Hi Dana,

Thank you for your message and suggestion. I’d like to share a quick story:

After the recent completion of our pilot project in Guatemala, we visited San Jose, Costa Rica on a research trip and met with two soccer-based organizations, Vive Fútbol and Fútbol por la Vida. Both organizations are a part of the streetfootballworld Network and use soccer as a tool for implementing youth development programs more comprehensive than ours.

We spent some time in the marginalized, urban communities where each of these organizations operate and came across some of harshest circumstances and most urgent demand for safe playing venues that we have seen. Vive Fútbol and Fútbol por la Vida have long-lasting and inclusive programs embedded in these communities, but in many of the roughest areas, no actual soccer fields.

One reason we believe that our innovation is different is the “The Platform Concept.” love.fútbol can effectively serve as the soccer-field provider for other social and sport-for-change organizations around the world. We are a simple platform or tool for others to implement their more comprehensive programs.

I will continue to explore the other programs in this competition. I hope that other organizations feel free to contact us about such a need—our goal is to operate globally.

Thank you and my best,
Drew
