Positioning in the Mosaic of solutions
What is your signature innovation, your new idea, in one sentence? A global network of socially responsible talented role models to maximise inspiration for young people and increase success of projects
Describe your innovation. What makes your idea unique and different than others doing work in the field? I have the engaging tool of Ball Fusion (www.ballfusion.com) to engage and inspire young people everywhere. Through this the network of young and socially responsible street artists including football freestylers, street soccer players, DJ's, MC's, Skateboarders, BMX stuntsmen and others alike now stretches to all continents worldwide. The unique training we provide brings the network together and coaches them in using their unique talents to interact with 'hard to reach' young people, inspire them into new opportunities and ensure that other organisations' programmes have their maximum impact and achieve success.
Being a 'not for profit' entity allows the street artists to work with any organisation anywhere in the world. The next generation of stars are scouted from www.ballfusionlive.com and through outreach programmes organised by companies within the Underground Fusion network (Sevo, Underground Soccer). This association / group of street artists are essentially an extra personality that can be added to any programme to improve relations with young people. What are the existing barriers, the biggest problem, your innovation is hoping to address/change? Helping organisations to achieve instant impact and greater success from their fantastic educational programmes. Having young role models who can have a greater understanding of the problems other young people face. The street artists at the same time need more stages to be seen and gain respect for their talents.
Delivery Model: How do you implement your innovation and apply it to the challenge/problem you are addressing? An annual week long conference / gathering for the carefully targeted network artists, which will include social interaction sales training, sports psychology training from Sevo, live performance for the general public / festival and practical training based around topical programmes being delivered around the world. It will then be managed by 2 key personnel - one member of Underground Soccer in Johannesburg, SA and one from Sevo in England.
How do you plan to grow your innovation? By working closely with large global charities the word of mouth will spread to more localised organisations and ensure a good range of events are available for network members (street artists) to work with.
Provide one sentence describing your impact/intended impact. Essential added value to any event working with young people
What impact has your innovation had to date/or what is your intended impact? Exactly who are the beneficiaries? This association will benefit the youth workers and programme deliverers all over the world by opening up the doors to the hearts of young people. It will also be the inspiration needed for the young people (of all ages) to make life changing choices and take advantage of all the opportunities life throws at them.
Please list any other measures reflective of the impact of your innovation? There are plenty of football freestylers in the world, but very few appreciate the full value of their power and use it to the greater good and interact with people at events. Your Game 2008 in England will put to test the freestylers and street soccer players for the first time. With a range of opportunities available to participants of the festivals, the role of the street artists will be to encourage the young people take advantage of them.
What are the main barriers to creating or achieving your impact? Agents of some of the top freestylers. Although the idea is to work with those who are less dependant on an agent and who appreciate the value of doing some social good.
Qualifying the events to ensure they are safe for the artists to work with. How is your initiative financed (or how do you expect your initiative will be financed)? Mixed funding (small membership fee for street artists, sponsor funded, event funded)
If known, provide information on your finances and organization. Unknown yet
What is the potential demand for your innovation? Worldwide local and global events
What are the main barriers to financial sustainability? A relevant and reliable sponsor
What is the origin of this innovation? Tell us your story. Through work carried out in my company Sevo, the network for street soccer and street talent has presented itself to me, as they are very keen to be a part of Ball Fusion (www.ballfusion.com). It was a natural progression to find a solution to bring them all together.
Please provide a personal bio. Note this may be used in Changemakers marketing material. I have a desire to create opportunities for young people everywhere to help them make the most of their lives. I firmly believe that sport and music can make such a positive impact on anyone's life. I am a sporty person who enjoys live music and socialising, as well has working with inspirational people.
