Are You a Changemaker?

The immediate roles to be filled are:

  • Changemakers Competition Manager:

Responsibilities: The Changemakers Competition Manager would be primarily responsible for directly managing a selection of the eight annual Changemakers competitions. Responsibilities include relationship management of competition sponsors (current sponsors include Nike, National Geographic, Global Water Challenge, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation), collaboration with internal Ashoka teams, direct interaction with competition entrants, and coordination of overall marketing outreach to potential entrants. Upcoming competitions include the “Global Water Challenge” and the “Geotourism: Caring for the Destination” competition (you can find a full list here: http://www.changemakers.net/en-us/competitions). Additional responsibilities include supporting the Competitions team and overall Changemakers operations--including personnel management and website support.

Qualifications: The applicant must be flexible, able to multi-task (and prioritize tasks, often through overlapping competitions and projects), familiar with social entrepreneurship, and have a passion for the power of online platforms to drive social change. The ability to balance creativity and implementation of critical tasks—and doing so in a start-up, dynamic environment—is crucial. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of experience with project management, client relationship management, online marketing, and social networking tools and platforms. Most importantly, Changemakers is looking for individuals motivated to join our mission to promote user-generated change, ultimately helping lead Ashoka and Changemakers to a vision of “everyone a changemaker.”

Applicants should contact Dessa Dal Porto (ddalporto@ashoka.org) and Charlie Brown (cbrown@ashoka.org). Please send resume, cover letter and two references. This position is based on a rolling application process; so please apply early. Changemakers provides a competitive salary package. Ashoka is an equal opportunity employer. Women, minorities and foreign nationals with I-9 employment status are encouraged to apply.

Ashoka’s Changemakers is looking for innovative candidates to join its growing team. Changemakers, an initiative of Ashoka, focuses on scaling-up high-impact social innovations to tackle the world’s most pressing issues, from human trafficking to climate change.

The community connects social innovators, who are often isolated, to peers, providing a platform to spread their ideas and increase the rate of innovation. These innovators are then connected to investors and other supporters through the Changemakers Collaborative Competitions, which to date have surfaced more than 2,000 social innovations from more than 100 countries and introduced them to investors such as the Gates, Nike, Ford, MacArthur, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundations.

The Changemakers Team is seeking persons for its staff who can identify needs in the social change sector and turn them into opportunities for Changemakers.net and its network. We want staff who can balance highly creative, entrepreneurial thinking with getting the job done.

Ideal staff candidates are knowledgeable and passionate about social entrepreneurship, systems-changing ideas, and the global power of the Internet to mobilize citizens in changing the world. They are also curious, witty, detail-oriented, and “in-the-trenches” hard working.
